Away In Utah’s Valleys.

Away In Utah’s Valleys.
TUNE— “So Early in the Morning.”

William Willes. The Mountain Warbler, 1872.

THERE is a people in the West, the world call Mormonites in jest,
The only people who can say, we have the truth, and own its sway.
Away in Utah’s valleys, away in Utah’s valleys,
Away in Utah’s valleys, the chambers of the Lord.

The world in darkness long has lain, since Jesus and the Saints were slain,
Until these glorious latter days, when Joseph did the standard raise,
And brought the Book of Mormon, and brought the Book of Mormon,
And brought the Book of Mormon, to cheer our souls with light.

The truth in many lands is known, in power the Lord rolls forth the stone,
Which from the mountains has gone forth, and will in time fill all the earth.
Go forth from Utah’s valleys, go forth from Utah’s valleys,
Go forth from Utah’s valleys, the chambers of the Lord.

And all ye Saints, where’er you be, from bondage try to be set free,
Escape unto fair Zion’s land, and thus fulfill the Lord’s command,
And help to build up Zion, and help to build up Zion,
And help to build up Zion, before the Lord appear.
