A Prairie View.

A Prairie View.

William Reed Hopper Dunroy. Tumbleweeds, 1901.

AFAR, afar in endless levels
The prairies reach from my sod-house door;
Afar the winds hold madcap revels
Along the grassy, sod-paved floor.

Beyond the aching eye’s deep straining
Yet other levels boundless lie;
And farther still is yet remaining
A floor that meets the bending sky.
